Keep the original reference
The complete standard number, edition, model or drawing reference controls the check. A prefix alone does not define the product.
How to read GB/T, CB/T, CBM, JIS F, old model numbers and drawing references before requesting an equivalent marine valve.
The complete standard number, edition, model or drawing reference controls the check. A prefix alone does not define the product.
Valve function, body type, size, pressure, temperature, material and connection decide whether a cross-reference is usable.
State whether an equivalent is acceptable, and whether technical approval, a class certificate or a project drawing is required.
Use this page when a requisition shows GB/T, CB/T, CBM, JIS F, a legacy model, a nameplate number, or a drawing reference.
| Step | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Record the source | Copy the exact standard, model, drawing number or IMPA code from the requisition, nameplate or sketch. |
| Define the function | Identify valve type, body type, flow direction and whether the item is vessel-specific. |
| Compare technical scope | Check size, pressure-temperature basis, body and trim materials, connection and face-to-face dimensions. |
| Confirm documents | State certificate, inspection, marking and approval requirements before an equivalent is accepted. |
GB/T is a Chinese national standard, CB/T is a Chinese shipbuilding industry standard, CBM is an older marine reference series, and JIS F is a Japanese industrial standard for ships. The complete number and edition identify the product standard; the prefix alone does not define valve type, size, pressure, material, or flange. See the marine valve standards guide before converting or combining references.
In the current catalog, GB/T 584-2008 lists CBM 1048/1051/1057-81 as compatible references for the cast-steel flanged stop-valve family. The references are not an automatic substitute; body type, DN, pressure rating, material list, temperature, flange dimensions, and document scope must be confirmed against the order. View GB/T 584 product details.
Send the exact number as marked, nameplate photos, installed photographs, a sketch, flow direction, face-to-face length, port size, flange drilling, and any vessel or system reference. Keep the old reference on the RFQ even when a modern standard is proposed. A dimensional drawing or photograph is often more useful than a guessed standard number.
State the governing project standard first, then request a cross-reference review. The review compares valve function, size, pressure-temperature basis, body and trim materials, end connection, face-to-face dimensions, test requirement, and certificate scope. Simoa does not treat a similar number or rating as automatic equivalence.
Provide the original standard or model, valve function, body type, size, pressure rating, body and trim materials, end connection, medium and temperature, quantity, certificate requirement, and any restriction on alternative references. A clear acceptance rule, such as "equivalent accepted with approval", speeds up confirmation.

| Topic FAQ | Best used for |
|---|---|
| IMPA code marine valve inquiry | How ship-store buyers can turn an IMPA code into a technically clear marine-valve inquiry. |
| Marine valve pressure and flange | How to state pressure class, nominal size and flange dimensions without creating a false equivalence. |
| Marine valve material and service | How to confirm body material, trim, medium and temperature before selecting a marine valve. |
| Marine valve certificate, inspection and RFQ | How to connect document scope, inspection requirements and technical RFQ fields before production. |
| Marine valve supplier verification | How to check supplier role, certificate evidence, inspection rights and first-order controls before approving a marine-valve source. |
This FAQ supports procurement communication. Certificate, inspection and material-document scope remain subject to product and order confirmation.
Provide the original reference and the confirmation fields above. We will check catalog scope, connection compatibility and document feasibility before quotation.
